About Us

About Us

A caring congregation with open minds and open hearts since 1967

Our History

Two Churches, One Community

1957

The Denomination Forms

Faith United is part of the United Church of Christ, a denomination with its own story of coming together. In 1957, the Congregational Christian and Evangelical and Reformed churches united as one, guided by the belief that what binds us in faith runs deeper than what separates us in tradition.

1967

Two Churches Become One

That same spirit took hold here in 1967. Bethlehem Congregational and Calvary Methodist, two congregations that had long been a part of this community, chose to build something new together. They raised a shared building, joined their families, and became Faith United Church of Christ.

What We Believe

We are a caring congregation, committed to Christ and his teachings. We’re inclusive of all, with open minds and open hearts. We welcome people of every age, race, ability, and orientation.

The United Church of Christ is one of the most progressive protestant denominations; our church supports a variety of social justice ministries, both locally and globally.

We are about understanding and exploration: doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God and others.

Our Beliefs

The Values That Guide Our Community

God’s Unconditional Love

We believe that God loves all people unconditionally. God’s love and grace are available to everyone, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or what they’ve done.

Inclusive Community

We are an open and affirming congregation. This means we welcome everyone into our church family, including people of all ages, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, economic statuses, and abilities. We believe that diversity enriches our faith community.

Faith in Action

Our faith compels us to work for justice and peace in our local community and around the world. We engage in service and advocacy to address issues like poverty, inequality, and environmental stewardship, believing that our actions can reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Growth

We encourage personal spiritual growth and exploration. Through worship, education, prayer, and fellowship, we seek to deepen our relationship with God and understand our purpose in God’s world.

Community of Support

Our church is a community where people support one another in times of joy and challenge. We offer care, understanding, and a listening ear, embodying Christ’s love in our relationships.

Worship & Sacrament

Gathering in Faith Together

Sunday Worship

Our Sunday worship services are held at 11:15 am. We gather to share in worship that is both reflective and joyful, offering praise through music, prayer, and the spoken word. Our services are designed to be meaningful and engaging for all, providing a space where everyone can encounter God’s presence in community.

Communion Celebration

On the first Sunday of every month, we celebrate Communion, remembering the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This sacred time is open to all who wish to participate, reflecting our belief in open table and inclusion. We invite you to join us at the table, where all are welcome.

Our Sanctuary

Faith United Church’s sanctuary is a beautiful, warm, and inviting space where people immediately feel at home. Its comfortable atmosphere, gentle lighting, and welcoming presence create a place where hearts can rest, prayers can be shared, and community can gather in peace.

Acoustics

Faith United Church’s sanctuary was thoughtfully designed with excellent acoustics in mind, allowing both spoken words and musical performances to be heard clearly and beautifully throughout the space. Whether it is a sermon, a hymn, or a special musical offering, the sound carries well, enriching worship and creating a meaningful listening experience for all.

Musical Instruments

Faith United Church’s sanctuary is home to beautiful musical instruments, including a grand piano and a pipe organ that fill the space with rich, resonant sound. Thanks to the sanctuary’s excellent acoustics, these instruments sound especially full and vibrant, enhancing worship and making every musical offering a joy to hear.
